The Reveal ...

Dollhouse Fixer Upper.

It’s done.

Before I reveal the new house, let’s look at what we started with, after cleaning up a pile of sunflower shells left by a mouse.

My dollhouse was in its 26th year of storage in our garage. It had endured the love and play from our kids, and their friends and cousins. And it had weathered the temperature ups and downs of so many years sitting on the top shelf in the garage, all but forgotten.

But it was destined for new life. The story is, my husband and I were cleaning out the garage a couple of months ago. We came across the dollhouse, and we had no use for it … I have grandsons, no granddaughters—yet. And, honestly, there was no way I was going to give it to Goodwill. So we left it on the shelf. We’d deal with it another day. But then an opportunity was revealed (I will not reveal where it is going to protect the privacy of the recipients), only by God’s divine intervention, and I found a home for my dollhouse and the inspiration to give it the renovation it deserved. I was THRILLED!

And now for the reveal! Ta-da!

I learned so much in the process, and found unique ways to be creative in the decor and finishes. For instance: The roof is made from the non-skid tape you’d put on your outdoor stairs. I just cut slits every half inch to create “asphalt roofing”. So much cheaper than the ready-made roofing you’d buy for dollhouses.

I cannot wait to deliver it this weekend.
